Mariachi Madness

on September 1, 2012

I have a sad little girl snoring in my lap. E has been running a fever all day and is sniffling. Poor thing.

I’m watching Netflix and trying to ignore the mariachi concert going on down the street. Our apartment is down the street from a stable that holds concerts. We’ve had the faint sounds of fiestas wafting into our home every weekend for over a year.

It isn’t too bad but we have an exciting announcement:

By April we should be in a real house!

My husband’s grandfather left his house to my father-in-law and his brother. They have agreed to let us live there in exchange for continuing renovation. We will be working on the major renovations until our lease is up on our apartment in the spring.

I actually got to start picking out paint colors! I am so excited to get away from the sterile white walls of apartment life. We’ll have a real play room and a back yard.

I’m so thankful for this amazing blessing and opportunity. Instead of throwing away money on rent, we will be investing it into something that benefits our whole family.

K is excited about fixing “the old house”. He’ll actually be in my father-in-law’s childhood bedroom.

It’ll be a lot of work but we are super excited to begin this journey. The first step is getting the foundation fixed and then we’ll start painting and working on floors. You may be seeing more updates on the house as we go.
